Khalifa (19 years)

Khalifa, now 19 years old,  has been having bowel problems since he was 8 years. Often he loses blood, sometimes it is so severe that blood transfusion is necessary. The upcoming weeks he will undergo some medical examinations to identify the cause. We hope he will be cured soon.

ABDOU COUMBA (8 YEARS)

Abdou Coumba suffers from the disease of Hirsprung, an a congenital abnormality which induces the absence of part of the intestinal nerves resulting in severe constipation. Due to his disease he has not yet started his primary education. May 18 he has had a succesful surgery. We wish him a quick recovery and hopefully he will be able to attend primary school next year!

MASS (18 YEARS)

Mass, born in 1993, loses sight of one eye yet again. In 2007 he received surgery which saved sight of one of his eyes. However, at the moment he is only able to see light and dark with this eye. He will receive medical eximanition at the hospital again this year.

MAMADOU (3 YEARS)

January 11 Mamedou had a succesful surgery of his hernia. Soon he will be visiting the hospital for a checkup. Total expenses: EUR 225, including blood analysis prior to the surgery (EUR 12), anesthesia consultation (EUR 15), the surgery itself (EUR 84). Furthermore infusion, medication, pain killers/bandages needed and some communication and transport costs made by our intermediary.

CHEIKH (3 YEARS)

Cheikh has been operated for his hernia March 14. Earlier he had surgery for his condition in 2009, unfortunately this did not success. The upcoming weeks will show whether this time surgery has been successful.

ELHAJ MALICK (12 YEARS)

Elhaj Malick (12 years old) has broken his wrist halfway 2010. Unfortunately he has not receiverd proper medical care at the time. Therefore his arm is skewed. Blood analysis prior to surgery has yet been performed. After the parent’s consent the surgery can be planned. We are trying to convince the parents of the importance of their son having this surgery and are explaining them about the fact the risks are next to zero.
